Technical Analysis for the Trading Professional: Strategies and Techniques for Today's Turbulent Financial Markets: Strategies and Techniques for Superior Returns (McGraw-Hill Trader's Edge)
Six months ago I sold cameras in the city and lived in Brooklyn. I studied books about trading and just didn't do well. But this book has made a difference. We live in Florida now and I don't sell cameras any more. I support my wife with stock trades. I like the RSI bull and bear ranges at the beginning the best and then the bands in the last part on RSI.
Missing Indicator
An excellent book that was spoiled by a rather silly scheme. An indicator clearly illustrated on the cover of the book along with a whole chapter devoted to the indicator ends with a shameless apology that the author cannot reveal the formula. The advertisement in her Website () still claims that the indicator is one of many that are to be found in the book. Very disappointing!
A MUST read for any professional trader
This is by far the most useful information on technical analysis I have ever read. The section on RSI divergences is absolutely astounishing. Ms. Brown has not only done a tremendous amount of reserch but also has worked very hard to present the material in a way that makes it easy to follow. Any professional trader who does not read this book is missing out on a wealth of extremely valuable information.
A gold mine of new information
I've been a trader for about ten years and have spent thousands of dollars on trading books - most of which have proven to have little or no useful content. That's certainly not the case with this book of Connie Brown's which provides alot of new thinking about indicators/oscillators and how we view and actually use them. More importantly the reader is challenged to think about what their favorite indicator is actually telling them at any point in time. Her discussion of the information a plain vanilla 14 period RSI can actually divulge is, in itself, well worth the price. The work on price projection and targets is extremely useful and has had a major positive impact on my trading. As an added bonus, the author shares some new indicators of her own creation and provides the reader with the "easy language" code for TradeStation.
There's an awful lot of information in this book and it does take some time to digest. I've found something new and worthwhile every time I pick it up. You will definitely not find a re-hash of the same old stuff. Highly recommended!
Where's the beef?
I am very surprised to see such glowing comments from other readers. Some friends of mine and I all thought the book a waste of time. The first section on the RSI was well-written and well thought out. It contains new and interesting information. The rest of the book looks like it was thrown in for filler in haste. I tried to use the RSI information in my trading, but found it of limited use.
